Happy V Fried Chicken

For us overseas, we often crave for our favorite signature Filipino food. One of the most missed is Jollibee. Who would not long for that crispy and juicy Chickenjoy and its very tasty gravy; the Palabok Fiesta and Jolly Spaghetti that all of us have grown to love? Whenever someone goes for a vacation back to the Philippines, more often than not, we ask them to bring us back some of these Jollibee goodies.
Here in Singapore, one small fast food joint somewhat gives us a taste of that: Happy V Fried Chicken.

When Rachelle and I learned about Happy V from our friends here, we wasted no time to go to Lucky Plaza and grab a bite of its famous Chickenjoy taste-a-like. Amazingly, the taste of their fried chicken is very close to the real thing, but the gravy just failed to imitate the original.

The most shocking revelation for us was Happy V’s Pancit Palabok, which I should say really tastes very much like Jollibee’s Palabok Fiesta. The only difference was Happy V’s Palabok uses a much thicker noodle while Jollibee’s uses the thinner sotanghon-like noodle.

Rachelle got for herself a Spaghetti with chicken combo meal (I forgot to mention that the 2-piece chicken and palabok was just my order!). Rachelle let me taste the spaghetti which to our surprise also tastes like the Jolly Spaghetti, but it felt like it lacks something, you know that feeling?
The only setback is the very small space they have that loyal patrons have to stand and wait for a turn on tables.
Overall, Happy V gave us a very Filipino experience we really miss! So, for Pinoys here in Singapore or those planning a trip here, check Happy V out and for sure you won’t be disappointed!
