Lao Ban Soya Bean Curd
Every morning when I was still a kid I would always wait in our terrace for Mang Eddie, our suki magtataho (taho vendor) to pass by our house so I can buy my 2-peso worth of taho (soya bean curd). Once he arrives, he would immediately stop in front of our house and call me. After giving me my glass full of taho (with dagdag!), he would again ride his bike to serve other anticipating kids on our street, chanting “Tahoooo! Tahoooo!”
Our local Filipino taho is commonly sold hot and is served with arnibal (brown sugar syrup) and pearl sago (similar to pearl tapioca). My love for taho did not stop there, I continued to eat taho whenever an opportunity presents itself.
Here in Singapore, one hawker store sells a very different kind of soya bean curd. Lao Ban Soya Bean Curd is said to be the first store in Singapore to sell chilled soya bean curd, and the best tasting too as many would say.

Project iPhoneography
The Project
Project iPhoneography is my latest attempt for a photoblog (yes, I had numerous attempts in the past…). I always had a passion for photography. I love taking pictures, capturing priceless moments as they happen and browsing through pictures with amazing effects. As the old saying goes, “a picture can paint a thousand words”, and I believe they really do.
Happy V Fried Chicken

For us overseas, we often crave for our favorite signature Filipino food. One of the most missed is Jollibee. Who would not long for that crispy and juicy Chickenjoy and its very tasty gravy; the Palabok Fiesta and Jolly Spaghetti that all of us have grown to love? Whenever someone goes for a vacation back to the Philippines, more often than not, we ask them to bring us back some of these Jollibee goodies.
Here in Singapore, one small fast food joint somewhat gives us a taste of that: Happy V Fried Chicken.

Yes co-Star Wars fanatics, you read it right, he is alive! Darth Maul, the Sith apprentice who we saw was cut into two by Obi Wan Kenobi at the end of the Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, apparently survived. Not in a new movie though but in a continuing saga in Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars according to EW.com.
Why We Don’t Celebrate Christmas
This time around the world multitudes of people are very busy preparing to celebrate Christmas. According to popular belief, our Lord Jesus Christ was born on December 25. But is this true?
December 25
According to history, December 25 actually has Babylonian roots. It is the celebration of the birth or “rebirth” of the sun god. In ancient times, December 25 was the day each year when the day started to become noticeably longer after the winter solstice. Thus the early pagans designated December 25 as the date of the birth or the “rebirth” of the sun.
